Google's Android Q still in test mode. When Google introduced gestural controls with Android 9 Pie for the first time, many people felt that the implementation by the Mountain View giant was poor.
Well, we already know that the Google developers are working on important changes to the navigation system in Android Q and the XDA Developers staff has discovered some interesting changes to the gestural controls thanks to flags hidden in the Pixel Launcher.
At the moment it is possible to access these new features only by modifying the Pixel Launcher APK to make its "Developer Options" visible. The following screenshots show this new menu in the Pixel Launcher settings which, once opened, gives you access to numerous new options to control QuickStep, the name of the gesture and the component of the recent apps in Android Pie and Android Q.
Among the innovations introduced there are more fluid animations, the possibility of switching to the activity just left with a swipe to the left on the navigation bar, the possibility of showing the overview of recent apps with a swipe upwards and holding down, the ability to scroll down anywhere on the homepage to bring down the notification panel. Here is a brief demonstration:
At the moment there are no guarantees that these new features, which at present are nothing more than experiments, will constitute the basis of the controls on renewed Android Q gestures.
