Only, the White Walkers arrive, led by a Night King colder than ever. An enigmatic being whose leitmotiv is still unknown, even if some have their little idea behind the head.

DEATH IN VIEW

In Game of Thrones, Westeros, along with its inhabitants, is threatened by the arrival of White Walkers from the North. At the head of a cosmopolitan army made up of several races, these mysterious beings reinforce their ranks by using the dead, an easy commodity to find in the series. However, at the top of this military hierarchy is the King of the Night. His powers are still mysterious and his motives too. However, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, showrunners of the series, revealed the reasons that prompted the King of the Night to invade Westeros during an interview for Entertainment Weekly:

"I do not see him as something demonic, I see him as Death, and that's what he's looking for - for everyone, that's why he was created and that's what he continues. " says Benioff.

While traveling to Westeros to kill everyone, the King of the Night was initially created by the Children of the Forest. A scene visible in season 6, while Bran lets his spirit sail to know how to defeat this opponent. Absent from the books, this being was created from scratch for the series and Entertainment Weekly wished to know the reasons which led to its creation:

"It was almost logical as we went back in time, when we were creating the story for the series." Weiss assured. "We saw what the Whitewalkers were doing, we saw how they managed to perpetuate themselves and how they created the ghosts. If you go back, well, they created these things ... So who created them We've always liked the implication that they were not some kind of cosmic villains from the beginning, but that the White Walkers had a story - that something that seemed legendary, mythological and permanent, was not They had a historical, understanding cause, in the same way that the wars visible on the screen are understandable. They are the work of a people, of living beings, with motivations that one can understand. "

And for good reason, the White Walkers were created to defeat the enemies of the Children of the Forest. Only the White Walkers finally took over their creators and had to be pushed back to the North following a clash known as the Dawn War. Creatures originally planned to defend Forest Children from human invasion. The King of the Night was created to kill humans and that's what he plans to do.

The character played by Vladimir Furdik on the screen, however, may have a hidden objective, it is likely that the showrunners of the series did not disclose all the plans of their main antagonist. Anyway, the many questions that are currently burning the lips of many fans will probably find their answers with the arrival of season 8, scheduled for April 14. The wait is not very long
